Recently, I was in a short film by Gerry Maravilla that involves bunnies, blood, and potential molestation – not in that order. It’s a pretty good time and I really enjoyed working on it so I hope you’ll enjoy watching it.
Check out the movie here
If you really dug it and want to maybe throw a couple of bucks Gerry’s way so he can try to enter it into a film festival (film festivals are hella expensive, unfortunately), buy a DVD or donate to the cause here. There are extras on the dvd, like production stills and commentary (and easter eggs oooo)

Now stuck in my head.
Also, the part where Ashly lays that first punch when sitting on the guy was really good. Like, best shot of the movie.
The movie had a cool concept and some interesting elements. I have to say, I hope that hack-y aesthetics were intended, and if so, WIN. It’s cool to see Ash do some semi-proper acting. How did they get her eyeballs so big? I guess it’s a secret of film-making. Anyway, congratulations.
I was thinking about the movie and remembered the line: “I would sodomize the shit out of myself!” Suddenly everything clicked. I get it. Great Job! I’ll throw some money Maravilla’s way.
“…sodomize the shit out of me!”**
Sorry, everyone.
SORRY, INTERNET!
Pretty good movie, and definitely deserves to be entered into a film festival. I think I’ll pick up a copy of the DVD if it helps at all.
Well done, Ash!
“Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’?”
“Kiww Da Douche.”
Pretty good little short film; interesting to see Ash as not-Ash.
I have to say, that was pretty damn entertaining. I won’t spoil my favorite part, but let’s say it was the “reveal” with your little friend. Also, that hand slapping the seat made me cringe, so great. I will totally be throwing a couple bucks his way.
Weird seeing someone other than Anthony call Ashly a bitch and then receive severe injury from her. Oh wait the guy in this film is named Antoine, which is pretty much the same name. That just makes me weirder actually.
Cool short film though, nice work, hope you make it to that festival.
Dear Ashly,
You may not have noticed, but in your post you used the word “Hella.”
It is my unfortunate duty to inform you that you are not allowed to use this word, as you are not from northern California. The use of that word could be described as “kind of our thing man” or “hella dope.” I understand that you spend time in California, but not in the right area.
We appreciate your concern
The Committee for Hella awesome use of the word Hella
HaHaHaHa! Awesome…
Hella is super retarded and should never, ever be said by anyone.
Paying this much attention to the word “hella” is hella-gay.
That shit’s HELLA wrong, son.
Also, using the word “hella” is a hecka sick time.
I liked it. Were the stacked stones at the end supposed to represent graves, or were they just a serendipitous yard decoration? Loved the bunny’s shades at the end, too.
That bunny must come in handy whenever Ash meets some overzealous fanboys.
This is pretty much exactly how I imagine Ashly is in real life. And it’s fantastic.
……a….murderer…..?
Okay, the music is annoying, but the movie is…..creepy. But in a good way.
I’m sorry for the harsh criticism but I thought it was atrocious. It was shot well but I thought the whole premise was stupid. The only reason I watched to begin with was because of ms burch’s involvement. From all of the positive comments maybe there was something I just didn’t get about it.
Geez..
those eyes.. D:

*neat film btw*
>w> I absolutely loved this, I don’t know what some people are talking about. Way to kick ass Ashly, in the film and with the acting, I enjoyed it though it was a bit creepy honestly xD In a good way.
it was like this

heres your film .

ye.
Hey Ash. Great boots.
Who in their right mind would let a wild ashly burch into their car?
pretty decent movie although most of what the guy said made me very uncomfortable all the time. Reminds me of the movie hard candy which is very similar and stars juno chick.
…Can’t say I’m surprised that Ash was the person Mr Maravilla singled out to play this role, to be honest. It’s hardly a stretch.
Why do so many people think Ash is the murdering type?! Am I missing something?
It’s a matter of her actions on HAWP. As shown in the Psychonauts episode, her character (if it IS an act) isn’t exactly…sane. She tends to flit between cuteness and violence in the blink of an eye, just like Donna. After all, that’s why we all love her so.
Comparing Ash’s HAWP character to Donna is misguided at best. And anyway, the issue is projecting that either character is similar to Ashly Burch in real life. Donna is a totally fictional murder, and Ash in HAWP is at least a caricature. So, I guess my point is that either people have creepy projection issues, or like to make poorly crafted jokes. Either way, I’m definitely analyzing it too much.
Hey Ash,
you kinda have big eyes when talking by the car’s window.
The acting was not bad, but I guess you couldn’t ask for more with a simple script. Oh yeah, you did a much better job than the sorry ass victim.
Yeah, the camera was a bit shaky or something during your introduction. I was all “jesus fuck this thing’s all over the place and so is she OH GOD MY HEAD.”
I agree with the dude I’m replying to; you acted much better than the other dude. That’s not a baseless “I like you better because I’ve seen you in HAWP and I’ve never seen this guy before” dogma (or whatever), but rather because the way he delivered his lines as well as the way he emoted were like…. I don’t know, like he was reading “hey babe [licks lips]” off of a script while being filmed.
I won’t praise you because you may already feel bad about me kinda tearing up your co-star, and saying “whoa you were hella fly in this movie” might make that worse. But… you WERE hella fly. And he DID kinda suck. Sorry.
[possible spoilers ahead, but just fucking watch the thing; it's like 8 minutes and I KNOW you've spent more time on less worthy endeavours]
I liked the story, though. GIRL POWER! Ah, the old days, where you could hide a dumbbell in a plush rabbit, then murder somebody with said plush rabbit and drive away in their car without any reprocussions to speak of. *sigh* Those were the days…
*Puts on pretentious film maker douche hat* This wasn’t really high concept, and didn’t have a good concept to begin with. The dialogue was extremely unnatural as well. Not a very good film.
Time to get your film hat fixed, because it’s obviously broken. You don’t seem to understand what “high concept” actually means.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_concept
lol. Way to make the entire point to someone who obviously won’t get it while also completely invalidating yourself by being a total douchebag. (No, the irony of my comment isn’t accidental.)
Why are you so obsessed with this post…
Don’t know how I am being a douche bag by pointing out and error and linking to the accurate information. I thought, you know, that’s what you did when someone said something that was wrong/incorrect.
I wasn’t trying to be a douche bag back to a douchey post. What was the “correct” way to go about it?
THAT…was creepy…
i liked it, but i feel like, since we don’t know anything about ash’s character, it seems a little odd or something. i guess we’re just supposed to assume she’s already a crazy murderer and her motivation is just feeling like this douche deserves it? or is it one of those things that’s purposefully left open so you can draw your own conclusion?
She had a weight in her bunny…. what do you think that implies?
basically just that she’s done this before? i was kind of hoping for there to be a little more to it, i guess, unless there’s some epic symbolic point i’m missing or something.
Hard candy, indeed )
Ashley the killer, pretty cool ;D
So hmmm…
You deplore the violence of a little girl in Kick-Ass yet you play a character who has a bunny who is trying to obviously make her age look younger and who is willing to brutally beat a man to death? Granted this was filmed in ’09 before kick-ass came out so your opinion can change how ever you still promote it? So what is the difference?
Interesting point, but I think there’s a big difference. kick-ass tries to be a parody of superhero films and be a regular super hero movie at the same time. this isn’t a parody of grindhouse movies, it tries to be one. also, hit girl is sexualized even though she’s a little girl. in this, the douchey dude (don’t remember his name), is the only thing sexualizing her. shes still dressed as a little girl. at least, thats what i saw as the difference.
See that’s the thing I don’t think hit-girl was sexualized I mean she wasn’t in a skin tight body suit it was a jumper with a skirt on it. She was being a girl. Plus you can’t use genre as an excuse modern day movies claiming to be grindhouse will never be grindhouse. They may attempt to capture the feel but it is still parody of what grindhouse was because it wasn’t created. Simply by adding the film scratch and the “main attraction” is a parody because it’s a used medium, films then had to have the film scratch and crappy opening because that’s what they had.
skin tight isn’t sexual? i find that hard to believe. also, dressing her up in a catholic school girl uniform? really there’s no doubt in my mind that the people who made kick-ass were trying to add sexual appeal to that character. rather then try and make you feel like it was wrong, they reveled in it and wanted to just believe what a bad ass she was and not even question the morality of what she was doing.
and maybe parody is the wrong word. kick-ass tries to act as a superhero satire. its basic premise is similar to watchmen (comic, not the god awful movie). watchmens whole purpose to was to be a critical commentary on the comic book genre. kick-ass starts out that way and then just become a regular comic book movie.
donna didnt seem to be a satire on anything. it was like planet terror or black dynamite or even hell ride. it just was the same genre, not offering critical commentary.
So maybe you misread what I wrote but I said she wasn’t in a skin tight jumper. She was in a leather jumper with a bullet proof vest under that. And if you want to use your logic that she was in the school girl uniform, then Donna is doing the same thing, short skirt, walking with a bunny portraying the fact that she is “young” to attract a man. It’s the same thing, she didn’t go around the entire movie in that school girl uniform just that once scene and after that she changed into her Hit-Girl outfit.
I think you maybe looking for the word homage. Yes it is an homage however you’re still kind of giving the audience a wink and a nod to the fact that you’re trying to recreate something from before.
Wonderful website! I actually like precisely how it can be rapid with this eye balls plus the info is well written. I will be thinking generate an income might be advised each time a brand new posting has been created. Concerning subscribed in your rss feed which in turn need to help do the trick! Have a fine day!
Of study course like your internet site but you will need to have to check out the spelling on numerous of your posts. Numerous of them are rife with spelling complications and I uncover it actually bothersome to explain to the real truth nonetheless I’ll absolutely come back when again.
Really believe everything you said. Your favorite purpose appeared to be on the internet the most effective issue to be aware of. As i tell you, As i certainly get hold of annoyed while people take into consideration doubts they will just don’ t know about. People managed to attack that fasten with the superior together with classified out the complete factor without the need of becoming side effect, people could take a transmission. Might probably end up again for any lot more. Thanks.
