Warning: Rape triggers.
In this episode, we talk about whether or not it’s okay to joke about rape, and also some stuff about Batman Begins.
For those who haven’t seen the pointing asshole in Batman Begins:
I don’t remember the audio on the most recent podcast but I recommend you guys checking out a free program that automatically levels the audio! It’s extremely simple and does a great job. (Some of your podcast have a large difference between the volume of your voices.)
Check it out! its called Levelator
As a person who was child molested, (by my next door neighbour, numerous times coaxed with baseball cards) I have a lot to say and I hope you’ll appreciate my point of view. When a person gets raped, it’s a fight to keep from reliving that experience everyday. I think it’s possible for rape to be joked about, a lot of comedians take the darkest memories of their life and make light of it. But the person has to take into account how people will percieve it, and word it accordingly. If someone has the ability to find a way to make a victim laugh about the tragedy they suffered, in my opinion, it’s worth dealing with a couple tasteless jokes.
The message I got from the penny arcade toon was people don’t care about your problems, no matter how severe. Rape was used to embellish the point, and it may have been used lightly, but it got the point across. I don’t think a joke can be definitively right or wrong. It depends on the person reading it, and what state of mind they’re in.
It’s envitible that something can and will be a trigger, some things much easier then others. If a person triggered from this comic, that’s unfortunate but sometimes people have to confront their feelings and try to find a way to deal with it. I don’t think this joke in any way helps to create a rape culture. If anything, helps people to understand they’re not alone.
Reading the discussion between Joel and Kevmur upset me because of Joels blind prejudice, and how I think his opinion may represent a portion of the general public. (Which has to be somewhat true because he’s not the only person crassly commenting on this issue in this thread.) He could never possibly understand what rape victims go through, and while it’s true the onus may be on the victim to seek relief. He dismisses their struggle and blames viticims for not living up to his standards. With his father having PTSD you’d think he’d be more tolerant and understanding.
Some other comments didn’t even acknowledge the segment about rape, people just turn a blind eye to tragedy, which is one of many reason why the human race is so pathetic. The fact that crime, murder, rape, and racism are still such relevent issues within our own countries, and how people are to busy focusing on their own lives to pay attantion to it, implicates that war will never end between countries in our life time. The human race is still in it’s infantcy and full of neanderthals. Maybe this last paragraph is a little much, but I stand by everything else I posted.
I’m not sure how it works here in California, I’m still new to the state, but I did want to mention to y’all that a good friend’s brother got a speeding ticket in New York. Long story short, there was some miscommunication, he thought his company was going to pay the ticket, and it didn’t get paid. He never received any notifications, but a month plus later they tracked down his parents’ address back in Virginia and sent them a notification in the mail that there was, indeed, a warrant out for his arrest. Not fun phone calls ensued. They had to pay a disgusting amount of money to get it lifted.
If you want more details, I can talk to her and get them, but my advice would be to make sure that shit gets paid. Pain in the ass? Absolutely. But unfortunately it’s very possible your dad isn’t too far off base on this one.
[Hopefully you've already got it paid off and this is all moot. Unrelated, I was watching stuff on getmortified | http://getmortified.com/recess/shoeboxshow/ | and I realized that Ash and Alanis Morissette have uncanny similarities about them. Love the show! Etc. etc.]
I found your blowjob machine Anthony
Look it’s grandpaw with his tall, leggy granddaughter…oops I mean Clooney and his new piece. The man is looking more pathetic everyday next to Stacy. Someone should really tell him that she makes him look OLD.Report this comment as spam or abuse

Anthony and Ash Burch and Ashley Davis and Justin Yngelmo are writers and game critics who make surreal videos in their spare time (or adorable ones, in Ashley's case). The videos aren't that bad.
Anthony, former features editor for Destructoid and creator of the Rev Rants series (now defunct) currently works at Gearbox Software and co-stars in Anthony Saves the World on The Escapist.
Ash acts in other crap, like the feature-length film Must Come Down, and maintains the blog How Games Saved My Life.
Davis likes to draw Pokémon and under appreciated video game characters on nomarios. She used to do Once Upon a Pixel, which aired on Gametrailers.
Justin constantly shoots web video for everywhere. He's developing a personal website right now.
