HAWPcast: Oh God Super Mario RPG is So Good

So good. So goddamn good.

This episode of the HAWPcast isn’t any more focused or elegant than any of the others, but we do spend the majority of it talking about videogames, at the very least.

The discussed games include Call of Duty: World at War, Final Fantasy X-2, Bayonetta, and Super Mario RPG. Unfortunately, neither Ash nor myself have completed any of the Mario & Luigi RPGs, so we spend an awful lot of time awkwardly bemoaning the fact that the Paper Mario series was disappointing in comparison to Squaresoft’s Nintendo RPG.

Still, hope you enjoy it.

    Good HAWPcast, as per usual.

  2. Derachi says:

You mother fuckers should play those M&L games they’re funny as ballzzz.

I still think Super Mario RPG still has some of the best video game music of the SNES era. Booster’s Tower was my favorite level and my favorite piece of music. I atleast play that game once a year just because…well…its Super Mario RPG!

  4. Duncor says:

That COD:WAW zombie stuff reminds me of this game Killing Floor on steam.

  5. Josh says:

Yo, Mario and Luigi, I’m really happy for you, and I’ma let you finish…

  6. Sean says:

    What television should people watch?

    MAD MEN.

    Watch it already. Alright? Alright.

  7. Dead Movie Star says:

I did Veni, Vidi, Vici while listening to this. God bless all of you.

You guys really need to get over it and play the Paper Mario games. All of the other Mario and Luigi games are great, but particularly Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is spectacular. If anything, start with that game, as it stands on it’s own.

I have to say though that Super Paper Mario on the Wii really falls short, especially if you play Thousand Year Door first. TYD is brilliant, the music is great, the battle system is so much fun.

Anthony! Put your assumptions and judgments aside and just play Thousand Year Door! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Keep up the great work guys, you are both epic. I enjoy all that you create.

P.S. Thanks for the DVD, it’s fun. My girlfriend Kazha and I both love it.

Great cast you guys! Super excited to hear about what anime you all watch. Did you two ever do the Blockbuster sticker kiosk thing with Pokemon Snap?

    @filt
As for Super Paper Mario, the best part is the 8bit level with the Chameleon troll.

    • Zapatos says:

God, I was OBSESSED with the Pokemon Snap kiosk when I was a kid. I’d ask my mother to go to Blockbuster solely to play Pokemon Snap, and she’d have to drag me out of the store to get me away from it. It was like the Second Coming when a friend of mine actually got the game.

    • Filt says:

@KamenOtaku: Agreed! That was an amazing level. The game itself falls short of how great the previous ones were, but it definitely had some shining moments. The 8-bit level was one of those shining moments!

  10. Mirax says:

Nice podcast, Ash’s voice sounded a little weird though. You guys really should play Paper Mario, it’s really funny and fun.

Also, Anthony, you didn’t like Inglorious Basterds?

  11. faggot says:

most of the stuff you said that you liked about super mario rpg is also in the paper mario games. the thousand year door is great. the first one isn’t as good and is more simplistic, but i thought it was alright. super paper mario sucks

  12. snskid says:

    Excellent >:]

  13. Kenny says:

Paper Mario 2 is about as good as Super Mario RPG. The first and third M&L games are fantastic.
