As mentioned earlier on the HAWPcast, this week’s episode is about Puzzle Quest, and not me and Justin having gay sex while dressed as Gears of War characters.
I really can’t overstate that last part.
I kinda dig this episode, which is odd, because it’s been on my hard drive for a year and I only decided to upload it on a whim. I think the dialogue is entertainingly paced and Ash is pretty funny, but — for some reason — I didn’t think this episode was good enough to upload back during Season One, and I’m really not sure why. Maybe I thought the total lack of iconography from the source game would have pissed the GT crowd off. Maybe I hadn’t gotten good enough at editing dialogue to understand how funny it could be.
I’m really not sure. Either way, though, I enjoy it, and I hope you do as well.

Makes you wonder if developers will ever offer color blindness mode for puzzle games especially.
Popcap usually do now. It’s a shame it’s not the norm for games like that though.

I’m red-green colorblind and I endorse this message. The sad part is a lot of Ash’s questions are REAL QUESTIONS that I’ve been asked.
Hey, when people find out you’re colorblind, do they make you play the What Color Does This Look Like To You game? That’s a stupid game, man. So dumb.
“What color is grass?”
“Grass is green.”
“But you can’t see green.”
“Yeah, but I’m not an IDIOT.”
I had one guy point to some cars and ask me what color one was. I said ‘Which one’ and he said ‘The blue one.’ Wow. (In addition to telling me what the color was, blue is a color I can see! Pretty much the only one, really.)
Holy crap! You can only see cars that are blue? How do you leave the house without getting run over?

I can’t! I’m stuck in my house! I think my sister painted my front door green when she was here (part of her plan to get all the inheritance, I think). Hopefully someone will come visit before my food supplies run out. As long as it’s not my brother, he’s colorblind too. My house has become a trap for the colorblind…
I agree wholeheartedly with everything that Phoenix says. It’s surprising that people don’t know what colourblindness is, considering that like one in five men has deuteranomalia (normal red-green coulourblindness).
But yeah, really fucking annoying when people are like ‘what colour is this?’ and ‘you see in BLACK AND WHITE!?’
I think people ask those dumb-ass questions because it’s so difficult to comprehend for a non-colour-blind person like me what a colour-blind person sees when they look at things.
I mean, for the colourblind person it’s not weird, because they’ve seen that way their whole life. And most colourblind people only have problems when they have to discern between different colours that they can’t properly see. Ask any colourblind person what colour a stop-sign is, though, and they’ll say “red,” because being colourblind doesn’t give you memory loss.
I liked this episode a lot since I make fun of my brother for being color blind all the time. Although he’s actually good at puzzle fighter, and similar games.
You can tell this episode is earlier though or at least I could.
I enjoy this episode on two levels:
First, I have a friend who is colour-blind, and can’t see purple, so other friends and I give him shit over it, like, he can’t even see the word “purple” and he instead reads it as “blue”, stuff like that.
Also a while back I tweeted to Anthony asking him what kind of colour-blindness he had, and he never replied. Dick. But know I know! *adds it to his Anthony Burch info-collage*
LOL at how your friend cant read the word purple. I have a friend who’s colourblind for purple and some other colours too. Something i found funny is that when hes wearing a purple or blue shirt I can convince him its the opposite colour. I stopped messing with him though because one time he almost got in a car accident because he couldn’t tell the difference between the red and green traffic light.
Also, Canadians spell it ‘colour’, bitches!

I am not colourblind at all, which is good, but I do have one eye that is shortsighted and the other is (fairly) normal. The only time this is a problem is with 3d glasses, which just don’t work for me. And they knacker my left eye.
I could get a monocle. I won’t. but I could.
I wondered when Anthony’s Colour blindness was going to be worked in. Though i’m not Colour blind myself I understand it’s be hard to make most games with a Colour blind mode. I’m not sure but in Games, does it really matter if you see things a different Colour or in no Colour at all?
To a large extent, yes. As you saw, puzzle games suck for us, unless they utilize shapes (bejeweled) or have a colorblind mode (peggle, many others). Sometimes teams are differentiated by your enemies being red and your teammates being green, which might as well be the same thing.
Recently, Battlefield BC2 shows your squad and enemies in very similar colors, and I can’t tell the difference. I’m not sure what colors they are, but I can’t fucking see the difference.
As I understand it, Anthony’s colorblindness is how they ended up with a pink xbox controller. He thought it was white.

Ok This was a great episode guys! Kinda sad that there is no gears this week but still this was funny as hell. I actually no a girl thats green and red colorblind and the only time I really notied it was when we were playing a puzzle gmae and I handed her my DS while I ran off to do somthing…. it was a bad idea….

When I saw the still i got really excited because I though ash had cut her hair again. Alas, i read the post and discovered it is but an old video, it gave me a sad. GIRL WITH THE HUGE FAEC WILL ALWAYS LOOK BETTER WITH SHORT HAIR!

This was funny for me because my brother is red-green colorblind and we (my family and I) make fun of him for it all the time. He also seems to have trouble distinguishing between other similar colors too (like blue and purple or yellow and orange). I’ve never seen it really affect while he plays games (which he does a lot) but when my family plays board games we have to argue with him for like ten minutes that “No, that space is not purple, it is blue. You lose.” or whatever.
I thought this was a pretty good episode, I love when you guys have a lot of back and forth.
And for he first time in a while I read some of the comments on the GameTrailers page.

You know, it may just be the opinion of my and my friends but we honestly thing the Gears of War idea sounded hilarious.
It makes me wonder if you’re to hard on your own material, or if you just want to sell more DVD’s in the future.
